Building Relations With Cuba Plans Solidarity Trip to Havana
For many years, the organizers of Building Relations With Cuban Labor have hosted trips to Cuba to bring awareness to the economic and social situation in Cuba and strengthen cross-border labor ties. Led by the late great Bill Camp, Building Relations With Cuban Labor was launched with the goal of ending the US economic blockade, closing the US military base in Guantánamo Bay, and opening free transit between the US and Cuba, three worthy ambitions that we have yet to achieve.
The trip to Havana this year is scheduled for April 27 to May 3, with an additional trip to the provinces from May 3 to May 8. Trip attendees with meet with union leaders and learn about how labor unions work in Cuba, how the public health system works in Cuba, how to US blockade has impacted the Cuban economy, and how the country is dealing with climate change and rising sea levels. And of course, attendees will get plenty of opportunities to enjoy and learn about Cuban music, food, culture, and history.
